Assured Food Standards
Assured Food Standards (AFS) is the independent organisation set up to manage the Little Red Tractor (LRT) stamp of approval. AFS, through sector standard setting boards, sets for most major food products the LRT standards that must be achieved before the logo can be applied to those products. Assured British Meat acts as the Beef and Sheepmeat Sector Board within AFS.
AFS also represents the food assurance community to a range of stakeholders both inside and outside the food industry, and provides a forum for the assurance community to tackle issues of common interest.
AFS promotes assurance along the entire food chain, recognising that the safety of food, the welfare of livestock and the environment can all be affected by activities beyond the farm gate. AFS only gives its seal of approval to food that has been produced to proper standards at all critical steps in the food supply chain.
