The Meat for Schools Scheme was established to assist schools with the cost of supplying Home Economics classes with Northern Ireland Farm Quality Assured beef and lamb.
Schools who subscribe to the scheme are allocated a voucher at the beginning of each academic year. The value of this voucher is based on the number of students studying Home Economics or any other course for which cookery practical classes form an integral part. When presented to a participating butcher, the school pays 25% of the cost of the beef and/or lamb, and LMC pay up the remaining 75% of the cost. (Example - for a voucher with a value of £100; school pays £25, LMC pays up to £75)
Over half of the secondary schools in Northern Ireland are currently taking advantage of the Meat for Schools Scheme. If your school would like to join them, simply fill in the request form or contact us.
