TASTE THE QUALITY DURING BEEF WEEK
09-Feb-10
Customers visiting their local Tesco, Sainsbury's, Dunnes and Supervalu stores from 4th February will have their taste buds truly tempted by the sight, sound, smell and ultimately taste of Northern Ireland Farm Quality Assured (NIFQA) beef cooked in-store as part of the Beef Week 2010.

Beef Week 2010 will be running from 8th to 14th February to celebrate and raise awareness and as part of the celebrations, the Livestock & Meat Commission (LMC) has arranged beef sampling in over 30 stores throughout Northern Ireland.

Commenting on the activity in the run up to Beef Week, David Rutledge, Chief Executive at LMC said, “Throughout Beef Week we are running a range of activities including supermarket samplings where consumers can call into one of their local supermarkets and taste and see for themselves the quality of Northern Ireland beef. Our main message to customers is to look for the Farm Quality Assured logo on packs or ask for Farm Quality Assured beef from retailers and butchers. Not only have they got the assurance of local production quality and traceability but they are also supporting the local Northern Ireland economy.”

In addition to sampling in supermarkets, LMC has arranged a range of promotional activity including radio and press competitions, schools competitions and an inaugural Meat Academy where participants have the opportunity to learn more about NIFQA, watch it being cooked and then cook it themselves.

Beef Week runs from 8 – 14th February 2010.
