MArket Update 11/03/08

Tuesday 11th March 2008

Prices slip 2-4p

Quotes for prime cattle have fallen by 2-4p, depending on the plant, to 246-248p for U3 grade steers and heifers.  Prices have slipped due to more cattle on the market and the beef trade has become more difficult over the past few weeks.  However, cows are unchanged at 200-206p.

Hoggets 290-300p

Hoggets have increased by 5-10p at some plant to 290-300p, mostly 295-300p.  Prices remain steady at the marts.  Latest mart prices (p/kg):

·        Kilrea (Mon): 2709-286p

·        Gorton (Mon evening): 265-302p

·        Saintfield: 262-292p
