OCDS rate slips for May 2008

Tuesday 6th May 2008

The Older Cattle Disposal Scheme (OCDS) payment rate for May 2008 has decreased by £1.65 to £230.72 per head due to the Euro / Sterling exchange rate weakening by one per cent compared to the end of March 2008.  The payment was converted at €1 = 79.015p.  This is the corrected rate compared to £230.99/head which published last Wednesday (30 April).

Producers are reminded that OCDS will end in December 2008.  From January 2009 all UK cattle born before August 1996 will have to be disposed of at a cost to the producer and there will be no compensation payment for these animals.
