Prime cattle prices edge upwards

Quotes for steers and heifers increased by 2p at one plant to 262-264p but others are unchanged 260-262p for U3 grades.  The cow trade was firm and quotes today ranged 226-230p.  Most plants reported that cattle supplies are slightly lower than last week.

Lambs -20p at 370p

Quotes dropped 20-25p at the plants to 370p, although one plant had lambs for today at last week's price of 390p.  Hoggets are unchanged at 300-320p, but they are few hoggets left on the market.

·        Donemana (Sat 24 May):  spring lambs 374-406p

·        Omagh (Sat 24 May):  hoggets 262-296p, spring lambs 329-366p

·        Crumlin:  spring lambs 350-376p
