THE Livestock and Meat Commission (LMC) is reminding producers that support is available through its Farm Quality Assurance Scheme (FQAS) helpline.

This long-established service is dedicated to assisting producers with all FQAS related queries. Sharing an insight to the type of queries the team commonly assist with, Gillian Davis, LMC Head of Quality Assurance said, “In 2025, the FQAS helpline handled in the region of 1,700 calls from producers seeking assistance on a wide range of issues. Commonly calls were related to pre- and post-inspection queries and guidance on non-conformances, with many producers seeking assurances on FQAS status. The helpline also handled requests for FQAS documentation, and aided members who wished for additional herds or flocks to be added to their existing accounts. A number of queries were also received regarding antimicrobial training requirements and antibiotic usage reviews.

“The volume and range of queries received highlights the important role the helpline plays in supporting producers and ensuring they have access to advice on FQAS requirements. Our experienced team can provide assistance and clear guidance, helping to resolve queries in a timely and efficient manner.”

Support available to FQAS producers is bolstered further through ongoing FQAS mart clinics. Gillian explained, “The Farm Liaison Officer continues to provide a face-to-face service for members. Every month producers have access to this service at various livestock markets across NI. A list of upcoming mart clinics can be found on our website lmcni.com and it is also shared to the Livestock and Meat Commission Facebook page and via text message.”

Producers who wish to join the Scheme, or FQAS producers with queries related to the Scheme are reminded that the helpline can be reached on 028 9263 3024.
